The apartment is composed of rooms belonging to different buildings, connected over time. One discovers different materials and construction methods. To move from one room to another, thick walls are crossed, made of granite, limestone, and brick, materializing the geography of Nantes, at the crossroads of Brittany and Charente. The project takes advantage of this organization: the objective is to integrate without altering. We then conceive a thick wall with a different typological register; a wooden structure that winds through the apartment and is designed to fulfill fundamental domestic functions: storage, seating, dividing, cooking, storing, illuminating, discussing. The construction principle of the structure has been developed to allow it to be cut and assembled by one person using everyday DIY tools and only one material: an 18mm birch plywood panel.

L’appartement est composé de pièces appartenant à des immeubles différents, reliés au fil du temps. On y découvre des matériaux et modes constructifs différents. Pour passer d’une pièce à l’autre, on franchit des murs épais, composés de granit, de calcaire et de brique, matérialisant la géographie nantaise, à la croisée de la Bretagne et de la Charente. Le projet tire parti de cette organisation : l’objectif sera de s’insérer sans dénaturer. Nous concevons alors une paroi épaisse au registre typlologique différent; un ensemble en bois qui s’enroule dans l’appartement et qui se décline pour remplir les fonctions domestiques fondamentales : ranger, s’assoir, séparer, cuisiner, stocker, éclairer, discuter. Le principe constructif de l’ensemble a été développé pour permettre à cet ensemble d’être découpé et assemblé par une personne avec des outils de bricolage du quotidien et un seul matériau : un panneau de contreplaqué de bouleau de 18mm.
